I have just returned from a family reunion and discovered much of the family is from Brede. From the information I have Elizabeth Gayne (Gaine perhaps) married a Thomas Tamsett in September 1758. I only have information one generation before that but I do have quite a lot of information on Elizabeth’s grandson James Tamsett after he and his family arrived here in Australia in 1837. Conversely, if you or anyone else has any information on the Tamsetts from Brede, Icklesham and Udimore I would like to hear from you.

I am sorry to say I cannot help you; The only reference I have in my notes is the marriage of Thomas Tamsett to Elizabeth GAYNE at Brede on 3 September 1758 with no information as to Elizabeth’s parents.

I have some information re this family. My wife is a descendant of John Tamsett who married Eliz Heaselman 1 Mar 1730 in Brede. John was the g-g-father of the James Tamsett who migrated to OZ. I’d love to hear from anyone with information re descendants or ancestors of this family.
